Principle Behind Testing For Pregnancy At Home

Pregnancy occurs when an egg is fertilized by the sperm to form an embryo. The embryo attaches to the walls of the Uterus and forms the placenta.

The placenta furthers releases a hormone known as Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (HCG). The hormone is usually present in high quantities in the urine of a pregnant woman.

Most of the tests will be done based on the presence of the hormone in urine. It should be noted however that the hormone is usually present in a significant amount during the first few weeks after pregnancy.
